Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning “Universal Life Force Energy”.  It was a method of healing which had been lost for centuries until Dr. Usui rediscovered it in the late 19th century and it was he who gave it the name.

Reiki is a natural, hands-on healing method.  The energy from the Universal Life Force is channelled through the hands of the therapist to the recipient.  The hand positions mirror the chakra energy points of the body, which in turn mirror the Endocrine system.

Reiki functions on all levels of mind, body and spirit, promoting balance, loosening blocked energies, cleansing the body of toxins and stimulating the body’s own natural ability to heal itself. Most metaphysical practitioners believe that all physical pain has non physical roots such as emotional trauma, negativity or spiritual depression – in other words dis-ease.

The majority of people find that it is a deeply relaxing experience.  It also complements traditional medicine and other alternative therapies.  Reiki is also effective on animals, birds and plants.
